Job Overview
Pioneer High School is seeking a dedicated and dynamic High School French Teacher to join our World Languages department. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop proficiency in French while fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures. This role involves creating engaging lesson plans aligned with New York State standards, assessing student progress, and contributing to a positive school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with New York State Learning Standards for World Languages
- Teach French courses across multiple proficiency levels (e.g., beginner to advanced)
- Foster listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the target language
- Integrate cultural instruction into language lessons
- Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative evaluations
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs and learning styles
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Support extracurricular activities such as language clubs or cultural events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in French, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Valid New York State Teaching Certification in French (7–12)
- Strong proficiency in French (native or near-native fluency preferred)
- Knowledge of second language acquisition best practices
- Experience teaching at the high school level preferred
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education
